Who are we? And to action what does our state as consecrated women lead us to respond to the challenges in the Church and for the world?
OLA identity and Mission for this world today.
In fact if we are assembled in Chapter, isn't it to update our responses to these questions? And to choose women who, in simplicity and audacity, can better lead us to live out the responses we give to these legitimate questions that we are asking? That is rightly so!!! And we are trying to do that with the help of the Spirit joined to the prayers of all our sisters and communities.
We are in the 17th day of our chapter and we are working on the texts concerning "Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation", "Missionary and Vocation Animation" and "The Safeguard and Protection of Children".
The Province of Italy, in its liturgy, gave us the chance of meditating on some passages, avenues for Pastoral work.
Today, in our world that is broken and suffering, evangelization … takes the name of reconciliation, an indispensable condition for … justice among men and women, and building a lasting peace that respects each individual and all peoples. (Africae Munus, # 174)
We, as Institute are called to evaluate our pastoral practice and be challenged by the New Evangelization which is synonymous with mission, requiring the capacity to set out anew, go beyond boundaries and broaden horizons, the opposite of self-sufficiency, a withdrawal into oneself, a status quo mentality and an idea that pastoral programmes are simply to proceed as they did in the past. (Lineamenta of the Synod on The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith)
To be women, Prophetic Religious Women for our times, with Sr. Felicia, we are asking that: "Mary, Queen of Apostles, continue the journey with us, especially in this moment of grace during which we are preparing to celebrate the life of our Congregation." Sr. Felicia Harry, Superior General, OLA.
